College admission scams

Education- June 1, 2026. Parents and Freshmen students in particular need to use caution when applying to any college in any state. Students are being hacked away from the official admissions website's to a scam site.  Crooks assume the students identity, collect their financial aid and when the time comes to register for classes or update information and check in the login password never works.

Please report any uncertain details of these incidents to law enforcement authorities. Make sure you are on an official University online website.  Parents and students wishing to apply in person please verify that the admissions specialist works for the university ask for verification credentials and extensive information about the University. Experts suggest applying in person and gathering research material checking with the BBB for complaints and the college board of admissions.

Protect your finances by contacting your financial institution, freezing your credit and Reporting these incidents if the crime occurred online. File  report's with your local police department and  C13 for online cyber scams.

Be sure to collect any information that was sent to you via the University and employee's representing the educational Institution. Document all dates, times and contact information of whom you spoke with.

In the meantime,  make sure you are applying to an Accredited Community College, University or technical College. 

Parents and students paying independently be sure to keep all records, 

receipt's  and all written correspondence.
